Kasey Cortez

Kasey Cortez is an open format DJ, personality & multi-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY.

Kasey has developed a special knack for bridging a gap between sounds most people would’ve never thought they’d hear together on a dancefloor- think ballroom meets dancehall, juke collides with bouyon, Miami bass pairs with ghetto tech- the essence of a Kasey Cortez set is the energetic clash of seemingly different musical worlds coming together in an effortless marriage. Her curiosity & playfulness shines through & invites every listener to thoroughly & unabashedly enjoy themselves & each other, because the world's collapsing & who cares about anything anymore.

As a classically trained musician & life long performer, having lived in all 3 major U.S. cities- NYC, LA & Chicago & being raised in the northeast U.S., her wide array of musical tastes developed & informed her deep knowledge of what one could call the ‘American’ sound. Her musical upbringing consisted of jazz, classical voice, classic rock, disco, funk, reggae, dancehall, soca, R&B, hip hop, reggaeton & dembow.

Kasey currently holds multiple residencies- both live & radio, and in the last year has curated sounds for over 150 events at some of the most prestigious venues across the east coast & midwest US, including Bossa Nova Civic Club, Adrienne Arsht Performing Arts Center, & Toad’s Place. She has performed on several major radio platforms including Book Club Radio & The Lot Radio, and festivals including The International Festival of Arts & The International Hip Hop Festival at Trinity College.

Outside of music, she is a yoga instructor of 10+ years, photographer, & has been working on a collection of early learner books for babies.
